A
great majority of Golden Princess' entertainment options can be
found on Promenade Deck.
Forward on Promenade Deck is the upper level of the Princess
Theater. Just aft of the Princess Theater is the Grand Casino
which was relocated here from Fiesta Deck during Golden Princess'
revitalization in 2009. The Grand Casino features a coinless slot
system and bungee cords are provided for the cash cards. A full
selection of table games is also available such as roulette and Texas
Hold 'Em poker.
Proceeding aft from the Grand Casino, guests will find themselves in the
Promenade Galleria where the Facets and Meridian Bay boutiques are
located. The Promenade Lounge and Bar are located parallel to the
shops along the starboard side of the Atrium. Fifty one guests can
be accommodated here beverages range from coffee to cocktails. By
morning, pastries are served and then by afternoon and evening, a wine
and caviar menu is offered.
Introducing visitors to the Promenade Lounge and Bar is a oil on canvas
work of art titled 'Cascade' by United States artist James Griffith.
Heading farther aft, guests will find a selection of seating areas along
the starboard side of the ship and then find themselves approaching the
274 seat Explorers Lounge. In this venue, the décor is that to
reflect the wonders of the Far East and Africa. Guests here can
experience entertainment such as cabaret acts, singers, magicians, and
comedians. Other activities that may take place here include
singles mingles and trivia events.
The Wheelhouse Bar, seating 107 guests, is sports a classic private club
atmosphere and showcases Princess Cruises' maritime history and nautical
memorabilia. Evening entertainment here takes place starting at
approximately 17:00 and lasts throughout the evening, including ballroom
dance music.
One of the nautical works located in the Wheelhouse Bar includes a model
of the S/S 'Nigaristan' which was built by John Readhead & Sons,
Ltd. South Shields for the Strick Line Ltd. London. The line was
founded by Frank Clarke Strick (1849-1943) and was sold in 1919 and
became a part of the P&O group in 1923.
Adjacent to the
Wheelhouse Bar is Sabatini's Trattoria, which seats 90 guests.
Sabatini's sports an authentic trattoria setting and features seafood
specialties and other Italian favorites. Sabatini's is perfect for
those who seek a more traditional Italian meal. Sabatini's is
inspired by the art and cuisine of Tuscany. Sabatini's can be a
romantic dinner for two or the choice for a great celebration.
Sabatini's generally carries a cover surcharge.
Also located along Promenade Deck aft is the ship's photo gallery.
Here, guests can browse and purchase photos that have been taken of them
throughout the cruise. The photography team on board also creates
a video produced of the cruise which is available for purchase.
Advanced digital imaging services are also available such as memory card
downloads and CD burning.
Located aft
on Promenade Deck is the 457 guest capacity Vista Lounge which features
Vegas style entertainment. Upon entering the Vista Lounge, guests
will see a striking bronze sculpture work of art named 'Enveloped Forms'
by United States Artist Lyle London.
Another attractive work of art located in the Vista Lounge is an oil on
canvas piece named 'Variations on a Souvenir Series' by United States
artist Mark Katano.
Recently released movies are also shown in the Vista Lounge according to
the times listed in the daily newsletter, Princess Patter.
At various
points along Promenade Deck, guests may stroll outdoors and talk a walk
outside. The outdoor promenade wraps around the aft end of the
ship and continues on Emerald Deck to complete the forward
circuit. This forward portion of the promenade is not always
accessible to guests.
