Located
forward, with its lower level being on deck three and spanning three
decks, is the Alhambra Theatre with a guest capacity of 1,320.
Each evening there is live entertainment here whether it be a musician,
comedian, or one of the production shows by the Royal Caribbean singers
and dancers.
Quite often, the main attraction in the show lounge is the stage
curtain. On Independence of the Seas, the main stage
curtain is 'Flamenco', mixed media, by In Art Designs and Produced by
Olympus Flag & Banner, Inc.
The curtain was printerd on Prestige Velour in thriteen separate panels
using a dye sublimation printing process. Panel sizes range from
twenty one inches to fifty two inches to accommodate the design, and all
panels are twenty eight feet long. The final size of the curtain
is twenty eight feet tall by forty six feet wide. After printing,
each panel is hand beaded with sequins and jewels by a team of talented
sewers. Over twenty five thousand bugle beads, fifteen thousand
sequins, and five hundred Austrian crystals were used on the
curtain. All beads and crystals are individually triple knotted
and tied. In total, over twenty one weeks were used to produce the
curtain.
In particular for first
time cruisers, guests will not believe their eyes upon stepping into
Studio B, where they will find an onboard ice skating rink, where
professional ice shows take place and are truly a 'must see'.
Other activities may also take place here in Studio B such as game
shows, parties, cooking demonstrations, and more.
It is an understatement to say
that the ice shows are just impressive; the incredible shows feature a
cast of professional skaters from around the World. Due to the
popularity of these shows, complimentary tickets are sometimes needed to
present at the door. If this is the case, guests may visit Guest
Services or check the Cruise Compass for details.
When the professionals
aren't practicing or putting on one of their shows, there are open
skating hours for guests. There is no charge to use the rink, no
reservations are required, and all levels of skating are welcome.
Skates are also provided.
For guests who have not skated before, there are skating lessons
available. For skilled skaters, guests may join advanced skate
sessions. Also offered are family skating, teen skating, and even
Disco or Rock 'n Roll skating.

Contemporary artists continue to be inspired by William Shakespeare and them themes explored in his plays : love, hate, death, betrayal, loyalty, and madness. The result of some contemporary artists paying homage to his plays is the eclectic mix of art throughout the Main Dining Room. |
