When Norwegian Jewel entered service in August of 2005 , she was the latest evolution of, and beginning of the 'Jewel Class', what had begun with the successful Norwegian Star concept in 2002. Norwegian Cruise Line took the hull concept of what was so successful for Star Cruises and made it its own.

The 'Jewel Class' prototype has undergone evolutionary changes to complement Norwegian Cruise Line's developing brand strategy and Freestyle Cruising Concept. The Freestyle brand allows guests to choose when and where they would like to dine throughout their sailing with a comprehensive number of various dining venues.

Even if they have not been aboard those sisters, the Norwegian Pearl is very well laid out and easy to navigate with streamlined and clear signage.

While the Norwegian Jewel incorporates some of the most modern and evolutionary features in the industry, loyal Latitudes Member guests will still find familiar sights throughout the ship such as Le Bistro, The Great Outdoors Restaurant, and the Stardust Theater.

In addition to the exciting entertainment venues, dining options, youth facilities, quiet hideaways, Norwegian Jewel features some of the largest suites at sea.
