Oasis of the Seas was undisputedly one of the biggest pieces of news in
2009 and perhaps the most highly anticipated of ships to enter
service. Royal Caribbean International has always been known to up
the ante in regard to ship size and features but Oasis is the first in
some time to enter service with record breaking features.
Key inaugural season staff for the Oasis of the Seas included Captain
William Wright, Captain Tor Olsen, Hotel Director Raimund Gschaider,
Francois Wache, and Cruise Director Ken Rush. |

Equally
reflective of the uniqueness of Oasis was her team of Godmothers : Daisy
Fuentes, Dara Torres, Gloria Estefan, Jane Seymour, Keisha Knight
Pulliam, Michelle Kwan, and Shawn Johnson.
Given the sheer
size of the ship and the broad offering of activities, Oasis of the
Seas is divided up and categorized by neighbourhood. Among the
themed spaces are Central Park, Youth Zone, the Boardwalk, Aqua Theater,
the Royal Promenade, the Pool and Sports Zone, Vitality at Sea Spa and
Fitness Center, and Entertainment Place.
It is only fitting
that Oasis of the Seas utilizes technology to the fullest extent
including interactive stateroom flat panel televisions, 400 touch
screen, interactive digital display screens located throughout the ship
to help guests find their way around, and life jacket free electronic
check in for mustering.
Oasis of the seas
is also clearly about statistics including 32 elevators, 3,300 miles of
electrical cables, 968,751 square feet of carpet, and 2,300 tons of
water in her 21 swimming pools and whirlpools. |
