Commodore
Deck is mainly comprised of guest accommodations (interior and
balconies).
Parallel of one another on Commodore Deck are Rhapsody of the Seas'
card room (with a capacity of 52) and library, accommodating 26 guests.
With a whimsical suggestion of the room's purpose, located outside of
the card room are 'Card Shark' and 'Lady Luck', created by British
artist Jason Moul. Both works are comprised of metal and glass.
The library, located on the starboard side of Commodore Deck, provides a
thorough selection of reading material for guests to enjoy throughout
their voyage.
Of its own definition, the title of the work of art 'Perpetuity'
suggests a feel of endless being or a sense of something never
ending. 'Perpetuity' was created by British artist John Ashworth
and is made of bronze, brass, and stainless steel. Ashworth was a
design engineer for a number of years before becoming a sculptor.
With a fascination for aesthetics and engineering equilibrium, he draws
inspiration from the technical World and mechanics of the universe about
him.
Located outside of the library are 'Forme I' and 'Forme II' both formed
of Welsh slate and hardwood by British artist Gary Breeze. A
juxtaposition of text and technique is the catalyst for Breeze's ideas
and much of his work is an attempt to unite letter forms with the medium
in which they are conveyed in order to manipulate their meaning. |
