At Sea / Messina, Sicily

These photos are from the ports of call and shore excursions of Messina, Sicily.  The photos correspond closely to my text review of the Splendour of the Seas and are in date/time order.

Above : A quick view from the Wave Revue presentation of "Star Struck".

Above : Here I am relaxing in my stateroom (6568) and also, to the left, a larger view of it.

Above : While waiting for crew lifeboat drill to finish, I took some photos of the Splendour of the Seas.

Above : Our drive to Taormina was very scenic and provided many photo opportunities.

Above : It is very easy to walk around the Greek theatre on one's own as I did.  I did ask some German tourists to take my photo as well.

Above : There are many beautiful scenes to capture and also hideaways to explore at the Greek theatre!

Above : Before re-boarding the Splendour of the Seas, I captured some of the views of a ship that I have always loved!

Above : One last glimpse of the busy pier of Messina before we set sail for Villefranche, France!

Above : We passed the active volcano of Stromboli where we could view some housing along the side.

Above : During our next-to-last sea day, the Splendour was required to make a brief stop for a medical disembarkation.  Guests lined up along the railways to see Splendour's tender being lowered into the water and then head ashore to an Italian industrial area.
