the Shore Excursions Deck. Across from the Front Office is a

Walking
from the Half Moon and Hudson Room forward, guests can view 'Tosei
Gosuku' armor from late 17th century Japan. 'Tosei Gosuku' means
'modern equipment' and responded to the needs of the mid 16th century
warriors.
The Culinary Arts
Center presented by Food & Wine Magazine is a unique and
entertaining experience for guests to watch cooking demonstrations or
even participate on their own. It is theatre style with a
state-of-the-art demonstration kitchen featuring plasma video screens
throughout the venue. Both cooking demonstrations and hands on
classes are featured here by staff and featured chefs.
The ship's party planner also hosts activities here such as the art of
flower arranging, ice carving, cake decorating, plate presentation and
garnishing, easy entertaining, and more.
Kids, tweens, and teens are also invited to take part in classes in the
Culinary Arts Center, whether or not they are registered for Club HAL.
This area is still used as the Wajang Theater for guests who enjoy
viewing current release films along with fresh popcorn. Across
from the Culinary Arts Center is a wine tasting bar where guests can
sample wines and purchase them for shipment home. |

Large
groups, such as incentives, will take interest in using the Half Moon
and Hudson Rooms aboard the Veendam, with a capacity of 120
occupants. Both the Half Moon and Hudson Rooms have audio and
visual technology for presentations.
|
|
|
|
|
Within
the Half Moon Room is a collectors' cabinet on stand dating from the
19th century, England. It houses ancient Egypt items such as 'ushabti',
'Hydria', and 'Kylix'. 'Amphora' earthenware from Greece can be
found here as well. Italian works can also be seen here, such as a
plaster figure of a wounded Amazon from the late 19th / early 20th
century.
|
|
|
Located
in the Hudson Room is an iron escutcheon and helmet from 19th century
Persia. Both bear the same decorative pattern pattern and the
helmet has an adjustable nose protector, much like chains, to protect
the warrior's neck and eyes. |
