Sports Deck

The Crow's Nest Lounge, with a capacity for 220 guests, is located completely forward on Sports Deck.  This is an ideal location to enjoy sweeping views by day and live music by evening.  The Crow's Nest also serves as Volendam's night club by evening.

An outdoor sun walk circles the Lido Deck pool below and leads guests aft to the sports courts.  Located on the port and starboard side of the ship's funnel are both a tennis court and basketball court.

In April of 2005, the Volendam underwent an extensive refurbishment as part of the 'Signature of Excellence' initiative by Holland America Line.

As part of the 'Signature of Excellence' enhancements on board, the youth facilities on board were extensively expanded.

Guests gain access to the expansive area from either Lido Deck or from outdoor deck areas on Sports Deck.  There are facilities for the following age groups:

Club HAL Kids - Ages three to seven.
Club HAL Tweens - Ages eight to twelve.
The Loft & Oasis - Ages thirteen to seventeen.
The magic of these areas is that kids, tweens, and teens can escape from the rest of the ship to their own area in a safe and independent area.
Families can rest assured that the young ones are taken care of by supervised, permanent, full-time staff.  Most of the staff hold degrees in education, childhood development, recreation, leisure studies, or related fields.
